Hi Everyone
With the season almost finished I wanted to say a few words and rather than try and thank the many who have provided so much support to the Club this year over the voices of the boys on Presentation Night, I thought I would put it in an email.
I think the season has been a great success and we have a lot of people to thank for that.
The Club with its new name and new uniforms has been very well received. We have received a lot of positive comments not only about the look of the uniforms but also positive comments about how to bring two clubs together. From my perspective the best thing about season 2016 has been the seamless integration of the boys and the parents behind Central Eastwood. One of the most pleasing aspects for me has been the recognition internally and the perception externally of the camaraderie and friendliness within the club - it is truly a pleasure to be part of.
A successful year on and off the field is a reflection of the contribution of many people. I would like to thank two groups in particular.
Firstly the members of the Committee and the sub Committees we formed pre season for their work in getting us started this year in so many different ways including: with new playing and supporters gear, new club structure, new accounts, setting up Team App, the web site, Facebook, organising the season launch function, running the canteen, end of year photos, and during the year Facebook photos, coordination of the football boot drive, presentation day coordination and dealing with a new rugby administration and registration system in My Rugby. An enormous amount of work went into getting us started and running the Club during the year and the efforts of the many people involved were truly appreciated.
Secondly I'd like to thank the Coaches & Managers for their efforts in ensuring the boys had an enjoyable and successful year - it is as important in my mind to enjoy training as it is the game and that was certainly the case for all teams. We appreciate the sacrifices made by all our coaches and managers to give up their time on behalf of our children.
Any club needs lots of volunteers and I would like to thank all the parents who gave up their time to help in so many different ways from; game day duties in the canteen or BBQ, set up and pack up or ground marshalling, trainers and water runners and assistant referees.
The success of the Club is also a function of the community support we received. We were very fortunate this year to receive such generous support from our sponsors. Wayne and Teena Vaughan and Heath Dockery from McGrath were very generous. With the support of McGrath we were able to purchase the new jerseys proudly reflecting McGrath's local community support. Mark Taylor from the Auto Doc very generously provided the shorts and socks for all players this year - again a fantastic contribution from a local business for which we are very grateful. Finally we would like to thank the Meat Boutique at Five Ways for their support which with the addition of a BBQ run on Thursday night training has helped the finances this year.
Our AGM this year is on 27 October 2017 at TG Milner at 7pm. We would appreciate if as many people as were able could come along - we are going to provide drinks (if that is an incentive for some). Seriously, the club doesn't exist without all our collective support and we will be looking for people to step up and take on roles to help run the club. It is a small contribution by many that we are looking for - we do not want to rely on a large contribution from a few. If you would like to talk to me or one of the Committee members about how you can help please do.
Finally - our My Rugby page is taking registrations for 2017 - at 2016 prices!
I hope you enjoy the Presentation Nights - the aim is to be brief and then with the kids running amok on the ovals have a few drinks together.
Kind Regards
